ISG helped its federal client establish an Automation Hub to radically enable their technical capabilities, mature their service lines and deliver better applications faster.
Opportunity
An Australian federal government agency faced the expiration of its IT infrastructure services contracts by 2025. ISG was engaged to assist with the design of a contemporary services model and new commercial arrangements for a complex multivendor environment, to better represent today’s digital market and strike a balance between:
- Flexibility to support future changes,
- Price certainty and achieving value for money outcomes, and
- Governance and control of the services.
Imagining IT Differently
ISG led the delivery of a sourcing strategy and managed the sourcing
activity, working as an expert team along with the federal agency. We developed a contemporary approach to
centralized compute services, comprised of agile development teams to deliver
the agency’s automation strategy and provide enterprise-level services that
would integrate, benefit and be influenced by these automation initiatives. These services include enterprise tool and
platform support; enterprise monitoring solutions; 24/7 eyes-on-glass
capability; application run services; and ServiceNow operations.
Future Made Possible
The agency now has a modern, flexible, skilled-resource capability to respond to the varied and evolving requirements of its applications and technology teams. Decoupled from traditional infrastructure sourcing approaches, the services have been structured to reflect the technical landscape transformation as it moves from a largely physical estate and traditional development lifecycle to a self-service, automated, on-demand and agile arrangement, with a focus on migration to the cloud and modernization.
