Selecting A Class Leading Systems Integrator

Facing system obsolescence, a leading US utility sought a trusted system integrator who could be depended upon to deliver a cutting edge Maximo-based solution on-time and on-budget such that business objectives would be achieved.

A top US-based vertically integrated utility needed to initiate a project to select a Systems Integrator (“SI”) to deliver a platform based implementation.  The project centered on Supply Chain Modules of Maximo (Source - Contract - Pay) as well as leverages Maximo's inventory management, and warehouse management.
Key attributes sought by the Client included that the project (a) involved heterogeneous technologies; (b) it was critical to achieve cost and schedule certainty; (c) that the contracting approach includes ‘checks and balances’ between involved vendors while avoiding fragmentation.
Executive leadership at the client had experienced several major projects where cost and schedule overruns eroded value. It was essential that this project avoid such pitfalls.

The ISG team assisted the Client in the initiation of the program through contracting with the selected SI as well as several of the supporting work scopes. Through the course of the engagement, new Client leadership was onboarded with the initiative adjusting focus changes.
As a leader in a highly regulated industry, it was critical for the Client that the selection process assured supportable decision making while at the same time achieve the program’s objectives. It was  particularly important to the project to implement contracting structures and governance that better assure delivery certainty as well as budget adherence.
